HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT AUTHORS
The Teach Them To Fish Foundation, a §501(c)(3) public charity that builds primary schools in rural Cambodia and Uganda for orphaned and underprivileged children and girls at risk for human trafficking, is dedicated to encouraging young people to do their share to help repair the world through community service (whether locally, nationally, or globally) and to apply lessons learned to their daily lives. Compassion and caring for others, moral courage, and recognizing the dangers of prejudice, exclusivity, peer pressure, and indifference to the sufferings of others – all are desirable attributes that inspire and encourage others to join in the effort to make our world a better place.
We are inviting all high school students to submit their story or poem entries for the Teach Them To Fish Foundation’s forthcoming anthology book: The Greatest of All Times, Making a Difference Through Community Service. The book will be a compilation of one hundred (100) inspirational stories and poems about high school students making real and meaningful differences in the lives of others through community service. Entries should tug on the hearts and minds of the readers and help the readers to realize ways in which they, too, may help others. The stories or poems should be personal, heartfelt, and filled with emotion. Readers should feel that they are actually in the scene with each student. Student authors of published stories or poems will receive the following scholarships for the college of their choice:
1st Place Winner $5,000
2nd Place Winner $2,500
3rd Place Winner $1,000
All published student authors 5 copies of book
Submit your entries by September 15, 2017, 11:59 p.m. (EST). We will announce the winners on the earlier of October 15, 2017, or as soon as we receive sufficiently qualified publishable stories and poems. Check back often for submission and announcement changes and updates.
(NOTICE: Teach Them To Fish Foundation volunteers or affiliated parties may submit entries but may not receive financial awards if selected as a 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place winners. In such an event, the award will go to the next selected student.)
Cost of publication will be paid for by corporate sponsorship. All proceeds from the sale of The Greatest of All Times, Making a Difference Through Community Service will be used by the Teach Them To Fish Foundation to help build additional primary schools in rural Cambodia or Uganda for orphaned and underprivileged children and girls at risk for human trafficking who do not have a school to attend.
